Our approach

Conscious of and convinced by what is at stake, our methodology will take the “HQE approach” into account but will also include the concept of Sustainable Development, giving a more global approach with humanitarian, social, economic and ecological parameters.

Social Framework:

• historical and economical

• knowledge of existing population, of its needs, expectations and activities

• involvement and participation of future users including the surrounding population of rural areas

• reinforcement of social networks resulting from project correspondence > improvement of social integration

• supporting diversity and the connaissance of other people

• approval of the project by the maximum number of people

Environmental Framework:

• assess the local surroundings to identify the environmental priorities

• preserve and enhance the countryside and visual aesthetic – integration with the surroundings

• climate: wind directions and prevalence of wind / sun-path diagram / temperature fluctuations

• reduce and optimise energy consumption or production (passive solar buildings) and choose renewable energies over others where possible

• improve water management (rainwater collection), waste management (rubbish sorting) and waste water management (ecological sewage treatment systems e.g. reed beds)

• improve air quality (both inside and outside)

• improve sanitation, hygiene and health > use of ecological materials

• reduce any possible pollution (sound, view, odour, electromagnetic waves etc. as well as chemical pollution)

• optimise management and consumption of materials

Economical Framework:

• support and make use of local resources > use of local materials and businesses

• support and make use of local know-how > use local trades over others where possible

• reduce transport costs (of people and materials)

• reduce building maintenance costs

• respect the project’s budget
